Polish director Malgorzata Szumowska won the Students Award at the Krakow Film Festival for this documentary, which provides a closely-observed sociological exploration of the Mazuria region of Poland at the dawn of the 21st century. Szumowska explores such facets and subtopics as daily routines of the residents, their philosophies about life and death, and their various customs and traditions.
