Synopsis by Alice Day
While Claire Conroy lies dying, attached to a feeding tube, her niece, Judy Brett attempts to have it removed. What seems to be a simple request is mired in a debate over patient rights, ethical issues, and definitions of terms such as "heroic measures." The legal arguments can be complex, and involve testimony from medical professionals and ethics scholars. No Heroic Measures also examines the attitudes of caregivers, who encounter mixed feelings when asked to withhold treatment from the patient. The program won a CINE Golden Eagle award.
