Synopsis by Mark Deming

Two women are torn between family loyalty and heir hearts in this drama from China. Nachajima (Gerile) is an elderly woman living in a small village in Mongolia, where her two grown daughters, Nansilma (Hong Mei) and Delehei (Nala), help to look after her. Nachajima is in failing health, and both of her daughters are in love and wish to get married; Nansilma is involved with Adia (Tumen), a shepherd, while Delehei is infatuated with a well-dressed man from town. But Nachajima doesn't approve of Delehei's beau, and she knows that Adia is still married to another woman who has fallen into a coma, so he's not free to wed. Both daughters long to settle down before their mother loses her life, but aren't sure how to get Nachajima's blessing, though they discover she has a few skeletons in her closet that she's never shared with them. Nima jia de nurenmen (aka Nimas' Women) was an official selection at the 2008 Shanghai Film Festival.
