Synopsis

The overnight journey of a mail train as it picks up and delivers mail across Great Britain. Every facet of the operation of Britain's post office trains in the 1930s is explored, from telephone communications to teatime. This high point in the history of Britain's GPO (General Post Office) Film Unit includes a poem written by W.H. Auden especially for the film.
