Synopsis by Kathryn Tamms
San Francisco 49er fans will cherish these moments of one of the NFL's greatest games: the 1981 NFC Championship. The matchup pitted a young San Francisco team trying to work its way up through the ranks, against America's favorite, the Dallas Cowboys. A tense struggle right up until the bitter end, the deciding moment was Dwight Clark's leaping touchdown catch on a pass from quarterback Joe Montana, considered the most famous play in the history of the 49ers. Despite a threat in the game's final minute, the 49ers held on to win 28-27. The video, compiled by NFL Films, includes play-by-play recaps accompanied by actual CBS radio audio.
