The San Diego Chargers relive a tumultuous year in the 1998 Official Team Video. Though the defense was ranked highest in the NFL, the Chargers suffered a flurry of internal problems and disappointing runs. Ryan Leaf's lackluster performance caused some concern while Natrone Means was felled after nine games by a foot injury. After a short losing streak, head coach Kevin Gilbride was replaced, but the Chargers never seemed to regain control. Norman Hand and Junior Seau were the team's beacons in the night, leading it to a reputable position within the league. Finally, three new offensive players offer a bright light for the Charger's future.
