Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Barely known in English-speaking countries, the 1962 comedy New Pastures was a major hit in its native Czechoslovakia. The title refers to the opportunities afforded the film's three protagonists--namely, a trio of ex-convicts. Not yet convinced that the honest path is the best, our three heroes return to their small home town. After a period of adjustment, they manage to start a new life almost in spite of themselves. Though a very slight piece, New Pastures has its heart in the right place.
