Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
In modern Japan even today, children who have some form of birth defect, even a minor one, are often shunted aside and hidden away. This was even more true in the 1970s, when Mariki Miyagi began her pioneering work caring for spastic and retarded children. This documentary, by Miyagi herself, shows her interacting with the children in a variety of situations. Her unbiased love and the children's cheerful persistence make for a very moving film.
