In this informative drama about the strength of the human spirit, two village women on the war-torn island of Cyprus, one woman Greek and the other Turkish, meet inside the latter's house and begin talking about the troubles they have seen, sharing their pain and their history. Occasional glimpses of two musicians riding a cart toward the village are interspersed with the women's conversation. The musicians are to play at a wedding, and the bride and groom and their families are ready -- but the ceremony is not to be. As the two women continue talking, it becomes apparent that they are the only people left in the village; the homes have been destroyed by fighting between the Greek and Turkish armies, and all the villagers have fled.
