Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Moscow Skies is a celebration of the Soviet Air Force, specifically the force's courageous defense of the Russian capital during WWII. There's a tentative stab at a romantic plotline, as handsome Lt. Streltsov (Peter Aleinkov) woos and wins pretty Army nurse Zoya (Nina Masayava). All this is forgotten amidst a plethora of aerial combat scenes, which rely heavily upon wartime newsreel footage. The film generates a modicum of suspense towards the end, when the audience is left hanging as to the fate of the hero. Noble in its intentions, Moscow Skies is marred by substandard production values.
