Synopsis by Sarah Ing

Since the 1984 Olympics, which featured NBA stars for the first time, the term "Dream Team" has been in circulation. Indeed, subsequent groupings never failed to defeat all competition. The 1996 Dream Team was no exception, averaging wins of more than 30 points a game. While superstar Michael Jordan was absent from the gold medal collection in Atlanta, an impressive and historic array of players replaced him: Shaquille O'Neal, Hakeem Olajuwon, Scottie Pippen, Reggie Miller, and Charles Barkley. The team, coached by Lenny Wilkens, replays a 95-69 victory over Yugoslavia in the finals, demonstrating why they captured the attention of spectators worldwide.
