Synopsis by Alice Day

Cats have been domesticated since the time of the Egyptians, who tamed them over 3,000 years ago to keep the rat population down in their grain storage areas. Despite this early start, they are second in popularity to dogs, yet their aloof and mysterious ways are endearing to many. The Nature series of documentaries takes a look at the world of the modern cat, from the sturdy farm cat, who is expected to work for his living, to the pampered city cat. Nature: Cats also tracks some cats who live in the wild, pointing out similarities despite the different environments.
