This documentary is one in a six part series that chronicles the history and culture of Native Americans. This episode traces the story of the Native Peoples of the Northwest, including the Lummi, Salish, Chumash, Colville, and Yakima tribes. With magnificent scenery as a backdrop, the film looks at the unique ceremonial practices of the people of the region. The importance of the sea and its animals, and their unique sailing vessels is considered. A panel of Native Americans from the region discuss their proud heritage and present day issues.
