Synopsis by Corinna Richards
The Nazca lines are a dramatic series of carved lines and pictures found in the Peruvian desert. Though they have been known about for decades, the lines only became popular after Eric Von Daniken's suggestion that they were signs of ancient landing strips and parking areas for early astronauts. Since then, the straight lines, animal drawings, trapezoids, and triangles have long invited theories on why they were carved into the rocky Peruvian desert as far back as 200 B.C. Now the viewer can explore the fascinating mystery behind the giant land carvings in the deserts of Peru. Follow the efforts of Maria Reiche through her decades of painstaking research into the sacred lines. Her belief that the Nazca lines are astronomically aligned is examined and discussed by noted archaeo-astronomer Anthony Aveni.
