Beatrice Hammond (Ann Murdock) will get a large inheritance from her maiden aunt's estate, on one condition -- she must get married before she turns 18. The dilemma is that Beatrice's sweetheart, Ronald Farwell (Jules Rancourt) is off in France, fighting World War I. So she asks her wealthy guardian, Gerald Eversleigh (Rex Mac Dougal), if he will marry her in name only. Eversleigh agrees, and they both figure they'll get a divorce when Farwell returns from France. Eversleigh, however, finds himself falling in love with Beatrice. Luckily, Farwell, has met and married a French nurse, and Beatrice has discovered that she loves Eversleigh back, so it all works out.
