Synopsis by Mark Deming

A man makes an unexpected discovery about his mother during a family get-together in this short comedy from director Clay Liford. A man in his mid-twenties (Nate Rubin) comes home to visit his mother (Sylvia Luedtker) for the first time in years. Though the young man loves his mom, they've long had a difficult relationship, and when he arrives at her house he's not sure what to make of the fact his mother appears to be stoned. It soon becomes obvious his guess is right, and not only has his mother developed an enthusiasm for marijuana, she wants him to drive her to the home of her dealer. The son grudgingly agrees, but hanging out with him mom and a handful of small-time drug dealers as she samples the merchandise only reminds him of his past family quarrels. My Mom Smokes Weed was an official selection at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
