Synopsis by Alice Duncan
This documentary takes a look at the lives, natural habitats, and personalities of African gorillas - including examples of how these remarkable animals have fun and communicate. Special attention is paid to the perilous situation of wild gorillas in Rwanda and Zaire - and to the life and work of the late Dian Fossey, who befriended the mountain gorillas and helped make the world aware of the suffering and threat of extinction these animals face because of commercial hunting and other kinds of human pressure. This program is part of the "Spirit Of Adventure" series, presented by Mutual of Omaha and hosted by wildlife expert Jim Fowler.
