Although nothing to get excited about, the Renfrew of the Royal Mounted series in general and Murder on the Yukon in particular are pleasant enough entertainment buoyed by leading man James Newill's lusty baritone and sidekick Dave O'Brien's casual way with otherwise rather juvenile bits of business. Added pleasures in this particular effort include competent leading lady Polly Ann Young (Loretta's sister), a genuinely funny turn by Jack Clifford as a hearing-impaired hotel owner, and the usual scenic Big Bear, CA locations. But veteran comics Al St. John and Snub Pollard are wasted and old-timer Louis Gasnier's direction is perfunctory at best.
