Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter
This video is part one of a five-part PBS series, hosted by Bill Moyers, on drug and alcohol addiction in the United States. This episode puts a human face on addiction. Nine men and women give their personal accounts of falling in and out of the world of addiction. The profiles of the nine recovering addicts cut across all socioeconomic lines, from an HIV-positive addict in Harlem to a marketing specialist and mother of three children. The sobering production makes clear the pervasiveness of this serious social problem.
