In this Yiddish tragedy, a man leads a clothing worker's strike and suffers terrible consequences. First he is beaten up by thugs, then his wife dies in labor. The baby is adopted by a wealthy couple and he cannot locate him. Many years pass and the baby grows up. He is just about to marry when an extortionist threatens to reveal his true origins. Fortunately, everything comes out for the best.
