Montparnasse Revisited: Face to Face With Giacometti is part three of a ten-volume documentary series that chronicles the history of art in the Montparnasse district of Paris between 1900 and WWII. In this episode, viewers get a close-up look at the paintings and sculpture of Alberto Giacometti. The 52-minute production is based on a series of 1960s films in which director Jean-Marie Drot interviewed important surviving figures from the earlier era. Highlights include archival footage, color reproductions of the artwork, and modern analysis.
