Synopsis by Sandra Brennan
This chaotic Japanese comedy explores the mis-communications involved with a vacationing family. Initially director Kenchi Iwamoto employs non traditional techniques to introduce his story by focusing at first upon the antics of peripheral characters and then looking at the main characters in greater detail. The family vacation immediately starts off on a sour note when domineering, crabby Mom, and penny-pinching Pappa get into an argument. Their daughter has been recently molested, tries to conceal her trauma, but is frequently nauseous. Her brother finds that hilarious. He has trouble with the ladies. It is Pappa who tries to get his dysfunctional family to communicate. His attempts fail miserably.
