Synopsis by Steve Blackburn

This video pays tribute to baseball Hall-of-Famer Roberto Clemente, believed by some to have been the greatest right-fielder to ever play the game. Featuring a music soundtrack by Clemente's son, Luis Roberto Clemente, the program utilizes interviews and game footage to highlight the most memorable moments in Clemente's 18-year career, all of which was with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Well-liked by players and fans alike, Clemente was also active in charity causes, and in fact, died after the 1972 season in a plane crash while en route to earthquake-stricken Nicaragua with relief supplies. A titan among ballplayers, Clemente won 12 Gold Glove awards, four National League batting titles, and played in 12 consecutive All-Star games. Voted the 1971 World Series MVP, in 1973 Clemente became the first Latin American player to be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame after a special vote put him the ballot before the mandatory five-year waiting period.
