Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
In an era where mix tape culture has been threatened by the greed of record industry, filmmakers set out to explore just how these prized items have allowed many independent artists to find their audience in a manner that just wouldn't have been possible through traditional methods. The mix tape has become a cornerstone of hip-hop culture, but as legal issues find collectors and enthusiasts risking both jail time and prohibitive fines for their efforts in keeping the culture alive unknown artists are beginning to suffer. Now, for the first time ever, hip-hop icons Chuck D, Xzibit, and others all set down to discuss the future of the mix tape in a documentary that also features performances by DJ Clue and Kanye West.
