Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The great appeal of this cable TV "makeover" series was most acutely appreciated by people who simply could not organize themselves -- and by the people who had to live with those people. On each episode, a team of "professional organizers" would endeavor to bring order into the chaos of messy private homes and cluttered personal workplaces. Operating on the cardinal rule that no one needs to hold onto any more than ten to 20 percent of what they currently owned, the professionals were brutally efficient in separating the contents of various rooms into bins marked "Save," "Toss," "Send Home," and "Free Stuff" (that is, residual stuff that was up for grabs -- and every man for himself). Hosted by Al Ducharme, Mission: Organization made its HGTV network bow on March 31, 2003.
