Synopsis by Janiss Garza
Child actress Gloria Joy stars in this average programmer, which features a very overused plot line. John Cromwell Depue (Neil Hardin) is a wealthy slum lord, and his wife, Emily (Ethel Ritchie), dabbles in charity concerns. Their little daughter, Marylee (Joy) really takes the idea of charity to heart, however -- at a fancy dress ball, she begs for money from the guests and takes what is given to her directly to the poor. In one tenement apartment, she finds a very ill woman and spends the night trying to nurse her. The next day she goes out in the street and collects more money by singing and dancing. By the time her parents locate her, Marylee has contracted the same illness as the woman through the poor sewage system. Depue finally comprehends the squalor in which his tenants are living and resolves to make improvements to his buildings. Emily, inspired by her daughter's actions, begins to learn the true meaning of charity.
