A prodigal son returns home from the States to search for his roots and his father, who is presumed dead. While discovering a country that is alien to him, he falls in love with his guide, a free-spirited woman. Matters get more complicated when his wife shows up unexpectedly and when he finds out that his father's funeral was fake. The film rises above its clichéd subject matter in flashback sequences, which are artfully executed in soft tones by Yugoslavian cameraman Mirsad Herovic.
