Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter
This documentary tells the inspirational story of Maximilian Kolbe, who was canonized for his altruistic acts during World War II. The one-man dramatization, played by Leonardo Defilippis, recounts the young monk's decision to take the place of another man in a Nazi concentration camp. The freed married man was able to return to his wife and family, while Maximilian spent his days at Auschwitz, where he ultimately died of starvation. Archival film clips, photographs, personal accounts, and commentary by historians and theologians, tell this story of remarkable courage and sacrifice.
