When Jane Morgan (Viola Dana) refuses to marry the family lawyer, she is forced to make her own living. The only problem is that she doesn't think she can do anything -- until her governess, Mrs. Murray (Julia Calhoun), reminds her that she was the cause of four broken engagements in one season. So Jane decides to become a "match breaker" -- for a fee, she will break up undesirable couplings. One client is Tom Butler (Jack Perrin), who wants to save his father (Edward Jobson) from a money-hungry widow. Tom also falls in love with her. But when she goes to Coronado Beach to do her work, the father hires her because he has heard that Tom has fallen for a girl, and not realizing it is Jane, wants her to split them up. But when Jane saves the father from being swindled, he comes to the conclusion that maybe she would make a good daughter-in-law after all.
