Synopsis by Janiss Garza
There's nothing new about the plot to this Edison five-reeler: Julia Long Bender (Mabel Trunnelle) elopes to Paris with a he-vamp (Richard Tucker), leaving behind her husband George (Robert Conness) and daughter, Cora. The guy dumps her, but she has the fortune of meeting opera star Madame Marie Jardin and becoming her understudy. Soon enough the day comes when Julia is called in to do the diva's job and she's a hit. Years later, Julia's husband and daughter come to Paris and Julia learns that Cora has been promised to an old roué (Bigelow Cooper) who she herself once knew. She puts a stop to the impending marriage, which angers George to no end. He berates his ex-wife, then takes Cora away on the next ship to America. Julia's voice fails her and she becomes poverty-stricken. But all is not lost because George has a change of heart and returns for Julia.
