Gram River is just another kid trying to survive in the slums of Mars until one fortuitous day when he has a run-in with some pirates. At first, Gram wants nothing to do with the hoodlums he's been thrown into the ranks of, but soon he finds that he is enjoying his new life on the run. The Martian Army, formed by Earth's government, is beginning to crack down on pirates, however, and soon Gram finds that he and his cohorts are fighting for more than just fun and adventure, they are fighting for the independent political movement.
