Directed by Neil Jordan, this neo-noir drama is based on the novel by John Banville, where he uses novelist Raymond Chandler’s private detective character Philip Marlowe. Set in the fictional 1930s Los Angeles district of Bay City, Marlowe (Liam Neeson) is hired by Clare Cavendish (Diane Kruger), a posh Irish-American heiress. The job is to find her missing lover, a small-time Hollywood actor. The case takes Marlowe to discover misdeeds happening within the upper echelons of society. Co-starring Alan Cumming, François Arnaud, and Jessica Lange.
