Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein
New York City is terrorized by yet another masked villain, "The Frog," in this ten-chapter serial released in March 1928 by the Pathé organization. Two gangsters fight over a one-million-dollar loot and it is up to stalwart Donald Reed to stop a spiraling gang war, a task made extremely difficult by the fact that the master criminal remains a mystery man even to his closest associates. Based on Edgar Wallace's The Fellowship of the Frog, the serial also featured 1924 WAMPAS Baby Star Margaret Morris, Frank Lackteen and Edward Roseman, all familiar faces to action adventure fans. Leading man Reed, however, was too bland to make much of an impact and Mark of the Frog proved a distinct failure at the box office.
