Chip Davis and his Mannheim Steamroller ensemble (who blend pop, classical, and new age musical styles into a warm and distinctive sound of their own) have made several acclaimed Christmas albums, but this video takes an unusual look at the holiday. Mannheim Steamroller: A Renaissance Christmas recreates the sights, sounds, and celebratory customs of the Yuletide season as it was observed in Europe during the Renaissance, with Davis and his group performing Christmas melodies of the period as well original music in the same tradition.
