Synopsis by Jonathan Crow

Telugu filmmaker L. V. Prasad spins this political melodrama about India's struggle for independence, produced by actress C. Krishnaveni. The film centers on Shobha (Krishnaveni), a vehement detractor to the Congress party -- which debated the future of India during the mid-1940s -- who finds herself arguing with Madhu (Narayana Rao), who backs of the Congress. Passionate political debate soon gives way to passion of a different sort as the two slowly fall in love. Not long after, the couple gets swept up in a violent police crackdown and both get arrested. The police torture Madhu with such abandon that, he leaves prison, after Indian independence, with amnesia. Once he meets Shobha again, though, his memory is restored and they marry.
