Synopsis by Hal Erickson

The Man With Green Eyes in this heavy-breathing German drama is "mad monk" Rasputin, played by Russian actor Malikoff. Insinuating himself into the Romanoff dynasty by saving the Czarina's hemophiliac son from death, Rasputin becomes a powerful political figure by day and a drunken debaucher by night. A group of Russian noblemen conspire to murder Rasputin -- a task that not only proves difficult, but well nigh impossible! Reviewers in 1930 considered Man with Green Eyes "too rough" for American consumption. But when the same story was retold in 1933 in MGM's Rasputin and the Empress, those same critics hailed the later effort as High Art.
