Synopsis by Jeremy Wheeler
In 1948, filmmaker, aeronautics expert, and noted eccentric Howard Hughes made history when he lifted off in the "Spruce Goose" and proved to skeptics that a 40,000-pound machine could soar with the grace of a bird, and in this documentary filmmakers explore the origins of this landmark flight while highlighting how the public had become completely enamored by Hughes' ongoing struggle with his personal demons.
