Synopsis by Janiss Garza

When Edna Hall (Lillian Walker) goes looking for a job, she walks right into a murder mystery. Edna has been called to the house of a woman seeking a secretary, but when she arrives, she finds the woman dead. Behind her, a hand drops a knife, and in a panic, she dashes off. Since she is scared of being connected to the crime, she returns to her country hometown and becomes a governess. There she meets Harry Leland (Evart Overton), the dead woman's son, who has no idea that she has any connection with the murder. They fall in love, marry, and return to Leland's old home. The butler (a confederate of the killer) recognizes her and tries to blackmail her. Because of this dispute, the Lelands are estranged and Edna leaves. She gets a job at a candy store and sees a man (William R. Dunn) who she recognizes from the day she first went to the Leland residence. He does not remember her, however, and she tricks him into falling in love with her. It turns out that he has jewelry that belonged to the dead woman, which points to him as the killer. Edna enlists the help of detectives to capture him and his gang of thieves, and she is reunited with her husband.
