Synopsis by Gönül Dönmez-Colin

Krassen in Het Tafelblad/Scratches On The Table is a children's film based on a television series. The heroine is Daisy, whose grandmother has just died. Daisy hardly knew her, and the adults around her never want to talk about this mysterious woman. When she accepts the invitation of her grandfather Misha and goes back home with him, initially she is not very happy. But soon she makes friends with Misha and together they discover an overgrown little summerhouse in the garden. Inside, they find wooden masks, old books, letters, maps of far-off countries, a tape recorder and a secret sign scratched on the table. This place was her grandmother's retreat. Ineke Houtman's direction reveals a keen eye for detail, and the mystery elements of the film should appeal to pre-adolescent children. Screened during the Children's Film Festival at the 49th International Berlin Film Festival, 1999.
