Synopsis by Mark Deming
Maceo Parker first rose to fame as the saxophonist with James Brown's legendary band of the mid-to-late '60s, and his raw, funky style later landed him gigs with Parliament, Funkadelic, and Bootsy's Rubber Band. In the early '90s, Parker hit the road with his own band (featuring two other former stars from James Brown & His Famous Flames, Fred Wesley and Pee Wee Ellis), and this concert video captures Parker and his combo tearing it up on-stage in Stuttgart, Germany, in March of 1991. Maceo Parker: Roots Revisited includes the songs "Everywhere Is Out of Town," "Inarticulate Speech of the Heart," "Doin' It to Death," " "Up 'n' Down Easy Street," and four others.
