Giuseppe Verdi's opera version of Shakespeare's tragedy Macbeth is performed by the Orchestra and Chorus of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, under the direction of Giuseppe Sinopoli. Renato Bruson plays Macbeth, a man who grows mad with ambition. His crazed wife, Lady Macbeth (Mara Zampieri) convinces him to kill King Duncan (Goetz Rose) and claim the throne of Scotland for himself. Also starring James Morris as Banquo, Dennis O'Neill as Macduff, and David Griffith as Malcolm.
