Synopsis by Mark Deming

Two guys looking for some fun on the town end up having the wrong kind of excitement in this visually striking drama from Lithuanian director Ignas Miskinis. Tadas (Dainius Gavenonis) is an insurance salesman in his early 30s who has a pretty wife, a fine home and a new car. Tadas is also drowning in boredom, and he's dissatisfied with his life but can't say just why. One day, Tadas runs into an old friend, Linas (Jonas Antan_lis), whom he hasn't seen in years. Linas is soon to be moving to the United States, and he suggests they get together before he leaves town. One nightTadas and Linas hop in Tadas's car and go cruising, driving through the city with no particular destination in mind, and while enjoying the evening they happen upon a beautiful woman, Vita (Julia Maria Kohler), while stopping for gas. The men ask Vita to join them, and she does; however, while both men soon find themselves taken with her good looks and mysterious charm, they also discover her line of work and idea of a good time is far riskier than they imagined, and they're soon trapped in a situation more dangerous than they ever expected. Artimos Sviesos (aka Low Lights) was an official selection at the 2009 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
