Based on an ancient Chinese legend, this film tells the story of Hui, a young pharmacist (Chun Cheung-Lam, aka Charles Chi), who encounters Pao and Shao, two lovely sisters (Brigitte Lin Ching Hsia and Chin Chin Min) while on an herb-gathering expedition. Caught in a storm, they take cover separately in a nearby boat, which is where they meet. Pao decides to marry Hui, and they quickly arrange a traditional wedding. Then Hui is told by a Taoist priest that his wife is actually a snake-woman from another realm of being. The priest gives him a potion to force her to resume her natural form. When he gives it to her, and sees that the story is true, he faints and falls into a coma. She awakens and assumes human form, journeying into the heavens to find the exact herb to revive her husband, but she finds that he has been kidnapped by yet another meddling Taoist monk when the returns.
