Synopsis by Andrea LeVasseur

Originally aired in 2002 on MSNBC, National Geographic: Lost Subs, Disaster at Sea investigates the accidental disappearance of submarines. Many things can go wrong on a ship submerged underwater, like undersea pressure, fire, and flood. Through in-depth interviews with actual submariners and surviving family members, this program discusses four major submarines from the U.S. and former Soviet Union that have unfortunately been lost. Learn the details of how the K-19, Kurst, U.S.S. Thresher, and the U.S.S. Squalus each met their fate in the depths of the ocean.
