Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
When Juliet arrives back at the beach camp with Kate, Sayid, and Jack it first appears that she has severed her ties with the Others, but a subsequent crisis with Claire could signal a more ominous modus operandi. On their way back to the camp, Jack details the deal he struck with Ben to an increasingly suspicious Kate. Juliet is hesitant as to how the rest of the survivors will react to her presence, a feeling that is later justified when Sawyer makes it obvious that she isn't wanted there and Hurley seems to issue her a thinly veiled threat. Looking back into Juliet's past, we see her arriving at a private airport to be escorted to the island by Richard Alpert and Ethan Rom. Upon meeting with Ben, Juliet says that she will have to take one of the pregnant women off of the island in order to find out why expectant mothers keep dying there. Ben says this is impossible. When Juliet asks to leave the island in order to be present when her sister Rachel gives birth, Ben says that Rachel will be dead from cancer before the baby is born unless Juliet agrees to stay. Back at the camp, Jack is trying to vouch for Juliet when Claire collapses. After explaining that Claire's immune system is malfunctioning and Ethan had been feeding her important medication he had stashed nearby, Juliet retrieves the medicine and tries to administer it. Jack knows that Juliet wants off the island as much as anyone else, and for him that's enough to accept her with open arms. But sometimes things are much more complicated than they first appear.
