Synopsis by Jonathan Crow
James Ha Chim-see spins this gritty, realistic film about life in Hong Kong prisons, featuring a cast of non-actors. Chi intentionally gets himself thrown in prison by committing arson after learning that his buddy Chan Hou-man was recently thrown in the clink. He quickly learns, however, that loyalty to his friend is not going to sustain him in a concrete jungle filled with cutthroats and sexual predators, especially since Chan was recently transferred to another institution. Chi gets off on the wrong foot by first picking a fight with his cellmates and then raising the ire of the head guard. Eventually, Chi earns the respect and friendship of his fellow cell members and soon finds a goal to aim for: keep his friends out of trouble for a full seven days, and the warden will provide music lessons during their recreation time.
