Synopsis by Nathan Southern

To this day, Michel de Nostradame (AKA Nostradamus, 1503-1566) qualifies as one of the most intriguing and beguiling of all historical figures. An alleged "seer" who published a myriad of books prophesying world events, Nostradamus was alternately derided as a heretic, maligned as a fake, and praised by many as ordained with unearthly gifts. One of Nostradamus's texts, Prophecy of the Roman Popes, remained "undiscovered" from the time of its completion until the 20th century; the History Channel documentary The Lost Book of Nostradamus probes the contents of this text and speculates at length on its meaning for current and future generations - including the possibility that it may both foretell the now-ongoing conflict in the Middle East and presage a global apocalypse.
