Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
A murderous scam leads to a horrifying end for two of the island's greediest castaways. Back before she became stranded on the island, Nikki was the star of an Australian TV show called Exposé. Not only that, but she was also involved in a torrid affair with the show's married and extremely wealthy septuagenarian producer as well. One particular morning, over breakfast, the powerful producer introduces Nikki to his new chef Paolo before suddenly keeling over dead - poisoned by Paolo so the chef and his secret lover Nikki could abscond with the producer's prized diamonds. Back on the island, Nikki dashes through the jungle, hastily buries something in he ground, and then collapses dead in front of Hurley and Sawyer. Upon finding Paolo's body in the jungle, Sawyer and Hurley launch an investigation into their bizarre deaths. Earlier that morning Desmond saw Nikki arguing with Sawyer, but Sawyer claims that did nothing more than deny her request for a gun. After crashing on the island, Nikki had been desperate to find the diamonds. Though Paolo eventually found them during an excursion into the jungle, he lied to Nikki about it and hid them in the Pearl station toilet. When Nikki found out about the betrayal, she attempted to get a gun from Sawyer. Rejected, the jilted thief instead opted to use one of entomology enthusiast Dr. Arzt's rare poisonous spiders as a weapon. Unfortunately for Nikki, the plan backfired and she too was bitten. Yet despite the fact that the spider bite does induce paralysis, it doesn't cause death; but this is one science lesson that Nikki won't learn until it's far too late.
