Rousseau shows up at the survivor's camp with an ominous warning, and a large plume of smoke leads everyone to believe that The Others are about to attack as season one of Lost winds to a close. When Walt sees Rousseau in the trees, she tries to sneak away but the frightened boy reveals her presence. On the beach, everyone surrounds Rousseau as she recalls how The Others massacred her own team years ago. Meanwhile, Michael and Jin do their best to finish the raft in hopes of setting out to sea before sundown, though a failure with the launch prompts them to do some emergency repair on the now-questionably seaworthy structure. Pressing Rousseau as hard as he can to gain information about The Others, Jack considers hiding the other survivors in the hatch and implores them to keep working on the raft while he and a few others head into the jungle to retrieve dynamite from The Black Rock. Before they leave, Jack gives Sawyer a gun and Sawyer recalls the time when he and Jack's father shared a drink in Sydney.
