Synopsis by Ed Atkinson
Lonnie Mack grew up in southern Indiana, where he had the unique privilege of being exposed to the sweet grooves of R & B as well as getting a hefty dose of down home country music. These roots helped Mack develop an interesting sound that lingers somewhere between the two styles. Mack is one of those guitarists that is loved by other guitarists. Having worked with musicians such as Hank Ballard and James Brown, it's hard to deny that Mack is a player. As a solo act, Mack is more roots blues based -- but adds a country twang with a heavy whammy bar. He has effectively pushed together two genres of music that are closely related but have had a hard time being friends. It's no wonder that Mack sat down in front of the camera and put together this tutorial on playing the blues on acoustic guitar. Like most Hot Licks Video releases, Lonnie Mack: Acoustic Blues Guitar is a step by step, trick by trick visual instruction manual that will aid any guitar player in taking the next step forward.
